The prize is the headline, but for a builder the more interesting question is what happens to the builds afterward, because that is where the show intersects with the sets you can actually buy. Here is the full picture, kept free of spoilers about who won which season.
The winning team of a FOX season takes home a cash prize, a LEGO trophy, and the title of LEGO Masters. The cash prize has been reported at one hundred thousand US dollars. That much is consistent across the completed seasons.
Where the winning builds end up
This is the part most people get wrong. The winning build does not automatically become a set you can buy. Across the completed seasons the finished models have mostly gone one of two ways: broken down like every other build, or, for a standout finale piece, put on public display at a LEGOLAND park rather than sold. Display, not retail, is the usual fate.
There is exactly one confirmed exception from the FOX version so far. One season's winning finale build was reworked by the LEGO Group into an actual retail set, released the following year. It is genuinely rare, and the fact that it is a one-off tells you how big the gap is between a build that wins on television and a build that can be manufactured, boxed, and sold. Why so few builds become sets
A finale build and a retail set are almost different objects. The build has to impress a judge once, in a studio, held together by the people who made it. A set has to be buildable from instructions by a stranger, use parts that exist in production, survive shipping, and hit a price. Turning one into the other is a full design project, not a copy job, which is why it happens once in five seasons rather than every season.
For a builder, that gap is the whole lesson of the prize. The trophy rewards the improvised, one-time brilliance the format is built to produce. The rare retail set rewards the small slice of that brilliance that also happens to be reproducible, which is exactly the quality we prize when we score a boxed set on the bench.

The season 4 winning finale build, the World Wonderliner, was turned into an official retail LEGO set, 41838 Travel Moments, released in 2024. Season 3 and season 5 winning builds went on public display at LEGOLAND parks rather than being sold as sets.
