This is the first mid-size Technic truck in a while that I finished and immediately started poking at instead of shelving. The pendulum axles have real travel, the crane actually articulates through three joints, and the little four-gear box in the middle is the kind of mechanism that justifies the theme's whole existence. It is not a flawless model, but on the bench it does the one thing a Technic vehicle has to do: it invites you to keep touching it.

The build on the bench

You spend the first third of the box on the chassis and the drivetrain, and that is the right call. The pendulum suspension is assembled as its own sub-unit before it goes under the frame, so you actually understand how the axles counter-rotate before they disappear into the body. It is a genuinely instructive sequence: even a builder who has never cracked a Technic manual will come away understanding why the wheels stay planted on uneven ground. The bodywork that follows is lighter going, mostly panel work, and it moves fast.

What it does when it's finished

The crane is the headline and it holds up. Three points of articulation plus a working winch means you can actually stage the thing lifting something, not just pose it. Steering runs off a roof-mounted knob, the doors open, and the cab tilts forward for engine access. None of these are novel functions in isolation, but stacked on one truck at this size they add up to a model that fidgets well, which is the real test of a play-focused Technic set.

Where it gives a little

The colour break is conservative, and if you were hoping the crane would be motorised out of the box, it is strictly manual. The sticker sheet is also busier than it needs to be for a vehicle this restrained. None of that undercuts the mechanism, but it keeps the model a notch below the theme's standout releases rather than level with them.
