LEGO Oracle Red Bull Racing RB20 F1 Car (42206)

A Solid RB20 That Struggles to Stand Out

Bench Score71/100SituationalWorth it on a discount or for a specific reason.See the breakdown ↓

The RB20 is a competent, accurate F1 build that runs into the same wall as the rest of the current single-seater wave: it is hard to feel special when the shelf next to it holds three more cars built to the same recipe. The livery is busy and the profile is faithful, the steering and suspension do their jobs, and the assembly is pleasant. But the functions are the genre default, the parts skew toward display bodywork, and nothing about it argues for itself over the alternatives. It is fine, and fine is the ceiling here.

The build

It goes together the way modern Technic cars do: a mechanical spine assembled first, then a long stretch of panel work to shape the aero. The suspension and steering come together tidily and link up without fuss, and the pace never sags. The Red Bull livery is the busiest part of the job, and here the stickers do more of the work than on some siblings, so a careful hand pays off on the finish.

Function and parts

You get working steering off the roll bar and a suspended chassis, which is exactly what this class always gives you and nothing more. On parts, the reusable mechanical count is modest for the size because so much of the box is dedicated to the aero shell. It photographs well and it is accurate, but the ratio of keep-forever parts to single-use panels is not in your favour.

Where it lands

The RB20 is a good execution of a template you have seen. If you are a Red Bull fan and want this exact car on the shelf, it will not disappoint you. If you are choosing among the current F1 sets on merit alone, there is no standout reason to reach for this one over the others, and the sticker-heavy livery is a small mark against.

Worth it

  • +Faithful RB20 profile
  • +Reliable steering and suspension
  • +Well-paced assembly

Weighing on it

  • Sticker-heavy livery for the scale
  • Functions and shelf role duplicate other current F1 sets

Who it’s for: A committed Red Bull or Verstappen fan who wants this specific livery, rather than a builder after the best function or value in the F1 line.

On value: Below average for a Technic car this size on parts reuse, since the box is weighted toward aero panels; the value case rests on how much this particular car matters to you.
