As a display model it is close to faultless for the scale. The proportions read as a real superbike rather than a caricature, the fairing panels sit flush, and the colour break between the red bodywork and the dark frame gives it depth from across a room. The single-sided swingarm and the exposed rear wheel are the kind of detail that reward a close look, and the whole thing sits on its stand with the poise of a much pricier model.

Roll the bike along and the V4 pistons cycle through a functioning gearbox with a shiftable selector, and the steering turns off the bars. This is the difference between a shelf ornament and a Technic set: the motion is genuinely satisfying and it invites the fidget that keeps a display build alive. The gearbox in particular is a clever, compact piece of engineering for the footprint, and understanding how it drives the pistons as you build it is half the pleasure.

The nitpicks are minor. A few of the sharper graphic accents are stickers rather than prints, so alignment matters, and the kickstand-and-display arrangement is a touch fussy to set just right. Neither dents the result. This is a set where the price of admission buys both a genuine display piece and a working mechanism, which is a rare combination at this size.
