Marvel in 2026: Judging Super-Hero Sets on Figures and Function, Not Box Drama

Super-hero sets are a different value calculation from the rest of the catalogue, because a large part of what you are paying for walks around on two legs: the minifigures. A Marvel set can carry a modest part count and still be worth it on the strength of its characters and a genuine play function, or it can lean on a dramatic box scene and give you very little to actually do. Spider-Man vs. Hulk: Epic Clash is a compact, play-first set, and it is a fair example of how the theme works. The value is in the confrontation it sets up and the figures that drive it, not in a big architectural build, so it suits a younger fan who wants characters to smash together more than a builder chasing a long evening. Judged on those terms it earns its place; judged as a display centrepiece it was never trying to be one.

The theme-level advice is to read the figure line-up first and the piece count second.
